Domenica – Gare
Dopo un difficile inizio, il team Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse ribalta la situazione al termine di questo lungo week end sul circuito inglese di Donington, costantemente battuto da forti piogge che hanno fortemente influenzato i risultati di molti team.
In gara 1 il pilota francese Regis Laconi cade e risale subito in sella, ma la scivolata danneggia la leva del cambio ed è costretto a rientrare ai box dopo solo un giro dall’inizio. Il suo compagno di squadra, Makoto Tamada, rimane vittima di una brutta caduta mentre sventola la bandiera rossa. Ne esce illeso ma il tempo a disposizione per sistemare i grossi danni prima del restart non è sufficiente a farlo rientrare in pista con la stessa moto come prevede il regolamento.
Decisamente diversa la situazione in gara 2 dove Regis si piazza in 15a posizione seguito dal compagno Makoto Tamada che taglia il traguardo in 16a piazza.
REGIS LACONI #55: “ E’ stato un week end fisicamente e psicologicamente difficile per me. In gara 1 sono scivolato all’ultima curva del primo giro e, risalendo in sella, mi sono reso conto che la leva del cambio era rotta per cui non ho potuto far altro che rassegnarmi e rientrare ai box. Sono invece soddisfatto del risultato di gara 2 perché, nonostante una partenza faticosa a causa del pattinamento dovuto alle condizioni di pista, ho recuperato 11 posizioni terminando la manche in 15a piazza. I ragazzi hanno fatto un ottimo lavoro migliorando considerevolmente le prestazioni della mia ZX-10R. Ora ci aspetta la prossima gara che si terrà a Vallelunga e, non avendo partecipato ai test, non posso fare dei prognostici ma posso dire che daremo il massimo come sempre”.
MAKOTO TAMADA #100: “ Terminare una gara su due non è mai piacevole, avrei voluto poter ripartire dopo la bandiera rossa ma la moto era danneggiata ed il regolamento mi impediva di partecipare con la moto 2. So che avrei potuto fare di più in gara 2 ma non ho voluto rischiare un’ennesima caduta per cui ho tirato a finire la manche portando a casa la 16a posizione”.

Sunday – Races
After a difficult beginning the Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team overturns the situation at the end of the long week end at the English track at Donington Park where the constant heavy showers have strongly prejudiced the results of many teams.
In race 1 the French rider Regis Laconi crashed but immediately jumped again on his bike discovering that the gear was damaged so he could just retire after only one lap.
His team mate Makoto Tamada has been victim of a crash too just when the red flag was announced. He wanted to start again with the other riders but the bike’s conditions forced him to retire as the rules don’t permit to use the second bike.
Extremely different the performances achieved by the green team in race 2 where Regis reached the 15th placement followed by Makoto who scored the 16th.
REGIS LACONI #55: “ It has been a very difficult week end both physically and mentally. In race 1 I slipped at the last bend of the first lap breaking the gear and I retired. I’m quite happy about race 2 result because after a difficult start I recovered 11 positions closing the manche in 15th placement. The team worked really good improving considerably the performances of my ZX-10R. Next round it’s in Vallelunga and as we didn’t participate to the test I cannot make any preview but I can guarantee that we’ll give the 100%”.
MAKOTO TAMADA #100: “ I really wanted to restart together with the other riders after the red flag in race 1, but the bike was seriously damaged and the regulation doesn’t permit to use the second bike so I could just retire. In race 2 I know I could do better but I didn’ t want to risk another crash and I just tried to finish the race achieving the 16th placement”.

Sabato – Superpole
COMUNICATO STAMPA
La giornata appena trascorsa sul circuito inglese di Donington Park non ha portato il recupero che il team sammarinese Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse sperava di ottenere dopo le migliorie apportate sulle proprie ZX-10R.
Entrambi i piloti hanno mostrato un miglioramento nelle prove libere del pomeriggio, nonostante ciò i risultati raggiunti nelle qualifiche del mattino li escludono dalla partecipazione alla Superpole.
Non sarà facile trovare una soluzione che possa ribaltare questa critica situazione, ma il team è comunque pronto ad affrontare le due gare di domani con la tenacia e la determinazione di sempre.

Saturday – Superpole
PRESS RELEASE
The Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team didn’t get the results it wanted to from this second day of the qualifying sessions which meant neither riders were able participate in the afternoon Superpole session.
Both riders showed some improvements during the wet free practice session before Superpole but they know it won’t be easy to find a solution that can overturn this critical situation.
Anyway the team is ready to face the two races of tomorrow with the same tenacity and determination as always.

Venerdì – Qualifiche 1ª sessione
Con condizioni di pista alquanto sfavorevoli, a causa della persistente pioggia, il team Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse, conclude la prima sessione di qualifiche sul tracciato di Donington Park, Gran Bretagna, con due posizioni non soddisfacenti ma con buone possibilità di riscatto.
Regis Laconi non ottiene dalla sua ZX-10R il grip necessario per raggiungere il feeling ottimale e poter sfruttare le potenzialità della moto, soprattutto in curva dove perde aderenza non appena il pilota francese apre il gas tentando un recupero.
La squadra del suo team mate, Makoto Tamada, ha utilizzato la giornata per ritrovare un setting ideale e ci riesce a fine sessione dando prospettive positive per la giornata di domani.
REGIS LACONI #55: “ Al momento ciò che mi crea più difficoltà è la mancanza di grip che non mi permette di aumentare velocità ed utilizzare al meglio le potenzialità della moto. Oggi abbiamo lavorato su certe soluzioni che non hanno dato i risultati previsti per cui, domani, ci concentreremo su altri fronti quali sospensioni ed elettronica, andando ad agire su freno motore e controllo di trazione”.
MAKOTO TAMADA #100: “ Girare con queste condizioni di pista non è certamente facile, soprattutto perché, durante la stagione, non abbiamo avuto molte occasioni per definire assetti su tracciato bagnato. Nonostante ciò, siamo riusciti ad ottenere un buon set up anche se non abbiamo potuto sfruttarlo durante la sessione odierna in quanto raggiunto a fine turno. Sono molto ottimista per la giornata di domani appunto perché il comportamento della moto è migliorato dandomi maggior feeling”.

Friday – Qualifying 1st session
The Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team ends this first day of qualifying session at Donington Park, Great Britain, on wet track conditions with two not satisfying positions but with good possibilities to redeem its result.
Regis Laconi doesn’t achieve the necessary grip he needs to reach the optimal feeling with his ZX-10R and take full advantage of the bike’s potentialities, especially in bends where it looses adhesion as soon as the rider tries to recover the gap increasing the speediness.
Makoto Tamada’s team used this day to find an ideal set up and succeeded in it just at the end of the session giving positive expectations for tomorrow.
REGIS LACONI #55: “ The main problem right now is the lack of grip which doesn’t permit me to ride fast and to take full advantage of the bike’s potentialities. Today we worked on certain solutions which didn’t give us the results we thought to achieve. Tomorrow we’ll change strategy focusing on suspensions and making some adjustments on engine-brake and traction control”.
MAKOTO TAMADA #100: “ It’s certainly not easy to ride on these track’s conditions even because we had no so many occasions to work on wet set up during the whole season. Anyway we obtained a good set up today but we still have to improve it as we found it just at the end of the session. I’m quite positive thinking about tomorrow as I really improved the feeling with the bike today”.
